Inclusion.

Football is much more than sport: it is collaboration, it is discipline, but above all it is inclusion. This is why Cagliari Calcio intends to raise awareness on the issue of disability every day, promoting social and labour inclusion, promoting knowledge of the issue and tolerance among employees, players and fans.

One of the projects promoted is Casteddu4Special, aimed at the integration of children with disabilities. Since 2018, Cagliari Calcio has adhered to the championship reserved for athletes with disabilities promoted by the Paralympic and Experimental Football Division of the FIGC. Our boys have achieved important results, becoming regional champions and national vice-champions. On the occasion of the National Day of People with Down Syndrome, Cagliari Calcio sided with CoorDown in support of the awareness and fund-raising campaigns launched. The first edition of the Special CUP Intesa Sanpaolo was also staged at the Unipol Domus, an event dedicated to inclusion and the healthiest values of sport, which involved over 150 male and female athletes from all over Sardinia.

The Cagliari Football Academy is one of the Club’s flagships: a sporting project, aimed at unearthing talent in the area, but also a social and educational one, aimed at training not only athletes but also, and above all, the citizens of the future, putting the individual at the centre with cutting-edge, shared methodologies.

The Coppa Quartieri, an initiative promoted by the Carlo Enrico Giulini Foundation in collaboration with Cagliari Calcio, is aimed at young people in secondary schools with the objective of activating interventions with the purpose of social inclusion aimed at the development of knowledge, friendship and solidarity networks, and the exercise of active and responsible citizenship.

Also in synergy with the Giulini Foundation, the red-blue club launched a number of initiatives at the island’s penal institutions: in theIPM in Quartucciu organised social-team-building and corporate volunteering days for the reintegration of young people into society, while in the Ettore Scalas’ Prison of Uta proposed the “Lo sport ti AiUta” project.
